LOVANO]:<BR> SUBJECT: The City Council will consider adopting a resolution to initiate local cultural resource designation proceedings for the commercial building located at 7900-06 Santa Monica Boulevard. I'm ambivalent about this - I previously had an office in this location, and it's a lovely building, but the intersection itself isn't otherwise protected or exceptional. Nothing in my experience as a tenant or since (the various retail changes) indicates the current owner has much interest in maintaining the historic character, and a designation is unlikely to change that, and will inhibit redevelopment potential (which is significant because it has strong transit connection potential).
