I support the approval of the City's purchase of the vacant Holloway Motel property, so that it can be modified and serve as transitional housing for members of the unhoused population. Purchase of the property will expand the number of beds available to West Hollywood’s homeless neighbors and support their path towards permanent housing. This is a great way for the City is to do its part in resolving the crisis of homelessness in our area. Please vote YES on Item 5B.
Homekey Program has been proven to be effective in other parts of California and has made a significant difference for unhoused individuals. City of West Hollywood should support this effort and opportunity as it fits into the city's long term goals.
The sooner we can move on this, the better. I'm very pleased to see strong leadership from the city in working to find housing options for those in our city in dire need, and that don't start with relocation as the first step towards a solution. I live within a half-mile of this location and will sleep better knowing there are beds for people nearby that previously didn't have any.
