SUBJECT: The City Council will waive further reading and adopt Ordinance No. 22-1195 amending portions of Title 2, Article 1, Section 2.08 of the West Hollywood Municipal Code adding Juneteenth as a City holiday.
YES YES YES! I am the product of a public school education and UNTIL JUST A DECADE AGO: Believed that slavery ended with the emancipation proclamation. I was shocked when I learned the significance of Juneteenth. Weho designating this day as a holiday educates our inhabitants and would likely serve as a leader for the state to begin recognizing this date.
