5.C. HUMANE AND SUSTAINABLE BEE REMOVAL [J. ERICKSON, Y. QUARKER, A. LOVANO, J. DEL TORO]:
SUBJECT: The City Council will consider directing staff and the City Attorney to research an ordinance to require the humane and sustainable removal of bees.
I agree with the principles and ideals embedded in this, but we should probably be practical about the long term costs here, esp if its going to lead to litigation from property owners. This is an issue that is probably better managed at the state level (if that's possible), so as a symbolic act, great, but a v small municipality with very little open space and no significant agriculture or gardens, we should be al little pragmatic about how much we spend here.
