A. 910 – 916 N. WETHERLY DRIVE SUBJECT: Officially continued from Thursday, October 19, 2023. The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider a request to demolish two dwelling units on three abutting parcels, merging all parcels, and construct a new seven-story, 89-unit, 100% affordable multi-family residential building over three-levels of a subterranean parking garage, for the properties located at 910-916 N. Wetherly Drive, West Hollywood, California.

Are you people insane? Even with the pittance of parking available for the proposed residences, having that many more people on this tiny street ludicrous. There are elderly people already on this block, this short, narrow block, and I have witnessed the acrobatics that the fire department has to do in order to put them in ambulances. Now, just by the law of large numbers, you're going to increase the frequency of LAFD call-outs and create that many more problems on our tiny block.

I’ve been a politically active renter in the City of West Hollywood for about a decade. I am writing with enthusiastic support for 910 Wetherly Drive. It will provide desperately needed housing to many vulnerable community members and young people. Adjusting to change is not easy, but it is necessary. The state enacted the DB law for this reason.
    I respectfully urge your support.

    Sincerely,

I strongly support this item in order to allow much needed affordable housing to be built in our great city. West Hollywood neds many types of housing, including much more affordable housing. I would love to see a project with even more units, but seeing one with 89 income restricted units amazing! West Hollywood is not on track to hit its RHNA numbers for the current cycle. We must do more to hit these numbers as it is a legal requirement and also necessary for a healthy city. Thank you!

The proposed 7-story building, towering over others, threatens to alter the block's character, creating issues like increased traffic on a street not designed for it. Furthermore, the building's proximity to others will compromise views, light, and privacy, as apartments directly face each other. There are alternative solutions, such as repurposing unoccupied office buildings left vacant due to COVID. we cannot compromise the unique character of our neighborhoods and turn WEHO into NYC.
