6.C. COMMERCIAL VACANCY TAX [L. MEISTER, S. SHYNE, Y. QUARKER, H. MOLINA, M. WATSON]: SUBJECT: The City Council will consider directing staff to negotiate an Agreement for Services with Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates to perform a statistically significant community survey and analysis of voters' opinions on a potential tax on prolonged commercial vacancies. Staff to return to City Council with the results of the polling data and next steps for consideration to place a commercial vacancy tax measure on the November 2024 ballot.

    I would also support moving past the survey and directly legislating for a commercial vacancy tax.
