6.B. HEPATITIS C: PUBLIC FORUM - HOW TO GET TO ZERO CASES OF HEPATITIS C [J. ERICKSON, Y. QUARKER, A. LOVANO, H. MOLINA, M. WATSON]: SUBJECT: The City Council will consider approving the sponsorship of a public forum to raise awareness about the presence of Hepatitis C (HCV) in the community and Los Angeles County, how to prevent new infections, provide information about the availability of extremely successful treatments, and remove barriers to such treatments. In addition, this item directs staff to work with the County's Department of Public Health (DPH) and other community stakeholders to develop an initiative to reduce transmission and link up HCV+ individuals to treatments.
