SUBJECT: The City Council will consider recognizing August 31, 2024, as Overdose Awareness Day to honor the lives lost to drug overdoses and raise awareness about the importance of harm reduction and overdose prevention.
The City's recognition of Overdose Awareness Day will give the City the opportunity to share information about its harm reduction resources -- and it's always good to get the word out about the human services programs that the City contracts. Normalizing discussions around harm reduction will help save lives and, in some cases, may ultimately lead to recovery from addiction.
