A. 7811 SANTA MONICA BOULEVARD, 1114 N. ORANGE GROVE AVENUE, AND 1125 N. OGDEN DRIVE: SUBJECT: The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing regarding a request to the demolition of all structures and parking lots on the project site consisting of three contiguous parcels to be tied as a single project site, and construct a seven-story mixed-use residential and hotel building, for the properties located at 7811 Santa Monica Boulevard, 1114 N. Orange Grove Avenue, and 1125 N. Ogden Drive, West Hollywood, California.

As a resident of the neighborhood, I strongly oppose the demolition and construction of this project. It will add excessive noise, pollution and traffic to the neighborhood. It will also take away public parking that is used by patrons of West Hollywood and a community gym that serves for the wellness and health of many of the weho residents.

I oppose. This is antithetical to what the local community wants and needs.

I strongly oppose this proposal and urge the City of West Hollywood to reconsider. Brick is a vital part of the community and plays a meaningful role in supporting the health, wellness, and connection of the people who rely on it.

West Hollywood has always positioned itself as a city that values small businesses and community-centered spaces. I respectfully ask the city to protect Brick and explore alternatives that preserve the community spaces that already exist and serve so many people.

As a West Hollywood resident, BRICK member, and construction manager, I strongly oppose and ask the Commission to require a Final EIR for 7811 Santa Monica Blvd. The project does not meet objective code standards, improperly relies on an AB 130 CEQA exemption despite hotel use, and raises serious concerns about construction impacts, hazardous site conditions, traffic safety on North Orange Grove, and proximity to a daycare. The community deserves full environmental review and engagement.

I strongly oppose. BRICK is not just a gym, it’s a vital pillar of the community. I’ve been a member for 14 years and have witnessed firsthand the impact it’s had on small businesses, community service, and social outreach. It is a positive, inclusive place that represents the very ideals of West Hollywood. Losing it would be a significant loss for the neighborhood.

    Strongly oppose this development.

Brick is a fitness community working to not only better its members but the surrounding area as well.

Additionally, the demolition and build of a seven story monster would not only impact an already very busy Santa Monica Blvd but it would be a major eye sore compared to the single and two story buildings along this strip of West Hollywood.

Maybe take on the old Rite Aid on Sunset and Fairfax instead.

I strongly oppose the proposed demolition and redevelopment. This project would destroy Brick, a vital community gym and daily gathering place for local residents. Brick is not disposable—it supports health, stability, and real connection in ways a hotel and luxury apartments cannot. Replacing a working community space with another mixed-use project weakens this neighborhood. I urge the Commission to reject this proposal.

I strongly oppose! I've lived in the community, paid taxes here for over 8+ years. I do not support this new build. Brick is a valued community space where I find peace and solitude each day. True landmark in an already hectic world, many members of our community come here to challenge themselves, grow, and support one another, w/ beloved staff.
This proposed development would ruin a beautiful community.

As a resident of this neighborhood i strongly OPPOSE this proposal. BRICK is a sanctuary for many and a staple of this neighborhood and it would be devastating to so many to lose this place. Love this gym and its community so much!

As I live around the corner, I urge denial of the requested waivers for 7811 Santa Monica Blvd and require a Final EIR. The site does not meet minimum size requirements, yet seeks excessive density. The developer is wrongly using an AB 130 exemption even though the project includes a hotel. With known contamination risks from prior industrial uses and unsafe traffic impacts on narrow residential streets near a daycare, full environmental review is required. I am a long time member of Brick too!

I strongly oppose this project. The impact to area residents, the removal of public parking that serves many businesses, added traffic to an already congested traffic corridor will be detrimental. Equally important is the fact Faring Capital hasn't been able to demonstrate completion of prior projects (French Market, Robertson Lane). Negatively impacting business & institution (Brick and Fountain Day School) for a project without guaranteed completion, will be a disservice to this neighborhood.

I STRONGLY OPPOSE! This would be horrible for the community.

Absolutely not. Too may half finished buildings are already an eyesore east of Fairfax. I live a block away. We don’t need to set a precedent of 7 story buildings on Santa Monica.

I strongly oppose this project. Brick Fitness is a pivotal part of the neighborhood and would be a massive loss to the community of West Hollywood.

This project removes businesses and land that are instrumental to community building and offer nothing substantial of the sort in return

This project removes public parking and displaces a popular neighborhood gym that serves residents of all ages and incomes. These are everyday, community-serving uses that support health, accessibility, and local businesses. The proposal offers no meaningful replacement, leaving the neighborhood with fewer resources and fewer places for residents and visitors to park.

As a resident of West Hollywood, I strongly oppose the development proposal on this site. The existing facilities are a cornerstone of the West Hollywood community, offering a vital space for residents to connect, stay healthy, and build a close-knit environment. Furthermore, this development would cause major disruptions to traffic along Santa Monica Boulevard, increase noise pollution, and ultimately erode the community-oriented activities that make West Hollywood so special.

I live near 7811 Santa Monica Blvd and request the Commission deny the waivers and require a Final EIR. The site is only 40,186 sq. ft., far below the 50,000 sq. ft. minimum required by code. The project also improperly claims an AB 130 exemption despite including a 45-room hotel, which disqualifies it under CEQA. Given the site’s long history of hazardous uses and its proximity to a daycare, a full EIR and Health Risk Assessment are necessary.

I've lived on Ogden for 17 years & been at Brick for 13yrs. It's absurd this proposal is even on the table. Demolishing a currently open successful local ESSENTIAL business that provides a safe space for health & fitness in our community in favor of a mixed-use monstrosity too large for its footprint is insane. It offers nothing back but except an un-needed hotel, more new construction that locals can't afford, & unfairly bypasses necessary EIRs. Faring is incapable of finishing their projects.
