I strongly oppose the proposed development to tear down a beloved gym and replace it with housing. This gym is a community hub that employs local residents and supports small businesses in the area. Replacing it with housing would exacerbate the already insane traffic congestion, putting strain on local infrastructure and making daily commutes even more difficult. Preserving the gym maintains jobs, community space, and the character of our neighborhood. I urge everyone to consider these impacts.

I strongly oppose this development. Brick is not just a gym, it is a strong and thriving LOCAL community that provides an important “third space” for its members and coaches alike. Losing this building would be catastrophic. The last thing WeHo needs is another failed development that turns into an empty parking lot that no one ever parks in.

I support housing, but this project is too intense for this location. A seven-story building with a hotel brings constant traffic, ride shares, deliveries, and safety conflicts on streets that already struggle, including near a preschool where safe access matters. The hotel use adds heavy commercial activity, and the scale is out of character. Please reduce the size and reconsider the hotel, with stronger traffic and construction protections.

The only party that benefits is the developer. WeHo does not need another “mixed use” development where retail spaces see high turnover or long-term vacancy due to unsustainable leases. Construction congestion within a crucial vein of daily commute from all directions proves to do nothing other than hurt small businesses inaccessible to car traffic. Dismantling Brick (7811SMB) would destroy a longstanding business and community that has done more for the citizens of WeHo than Faring ever will.

I strongly oppose the proposed hotel and apartment development on Santa Monica Blvd. that would require tearing down a gym that serves as a true community hub in the heart of WeHo. It employs many people and provides a space for residents to improve their physical and mental health together. This is already a congested residential area, and adding a hotel would only increase traffic with no real benefit to the community.

Brick is not just a gym it’s a long standing community and a second home for myself and many others. Members come here daily, many on foot and the relationships built inside this gym cannot simply be created elsewhere. Tearing down this business would cost people jobs and their community. Please oppose this project and stop them from erasing an established West Hollywood business.

This is my neighborhood and I can't think of anything it needs less than this project. Especially when it'll erase popular small businesses that've thrived over a decade and struggled to get through a pandemic to remain in business and service residents like me. Faring Capital has enough undeveloped projects yet to see the light of day on their plate, so why reward them with another one that'll just sit as an empty hole and blight for years. Weho tax payers and voters do not need or want this.

As a West Hollywood tax payer strongly oppose this project. Faring Capital has two undeveloped projects already on their docket for years. Why are they taking on a new one when they should be focused on delivering the other two? They’ve shown no ability to accomplish actually building anything. That’s on top of the monstrosity that the Bond hotel is designed to be.

It does not make sense for the Planning Commission to approve this latest development project by Faring Real Estate when Faring has two failed, uncompleted disaster eyesore real estate projects inflicting urban blight on WeHo residents and visitors (French Market Place and Studio One). Do we really need a third one? Am I reaching for the stars here? WeHo has enough blight. Please do not approve this.

I have been a proud West Hollywood resident for 11 years and a proud Brick member for 10 of those. The demolition of 7811 would cause a deeper tear in our supportive and progressive community than many council members may be aware of. Healthy & supportive safe places to gather in public for LGBTQIA, women, and non-white community members are rare and should be considered precious to our community as a sanctuary city. We lose far more by putting development here than we would gain. Brick is WeHo.

Brick (7811SMB) is a small business that West Hollywood should hold up as a role model, not demolish. Please oppose this measure. Brick has offered small group and individual fitness instruction for 15+ years weathering recessions, and the pandemic. Our 300 person community of mostly LGBTQIA, sober, and/or immigrant athletes live within 2 miles of the gym, We are proud to provide them a safe space to live happier, healthier lives. Brick is the best of Weho; don't knock it down.

I’ve been a member of Brick for 5 years now, and I consider it my second home.
I’m here basically five days a week.

I’m disgusted by the attempts to shortcut municipal code to prop up another tacky prefab apartment complex.

To build over this gym would be to eradicate a longstanding community and eliminate jobs from your local economy.

This isn’t a case of NIMBYism: build this in a lot that’s already vacant (I can name multiple near my apartment)

Brick (gym located at 7811 SMB) has been my home for a decade. The gym serves the community of West Hollywood, with many members walking to the facility daily. Tearing it down would require relocation and likely a loss of most of the membership base, erasing a community of like minded fitness enthusiasts in Weho. Please oppose this request!

I very much oppose this project. I am very much against the closure of Brick, which would happen if this project goes through. I am a member of the sober community in West Hollywood, and Brick has held several group fitness classes and community events, free of charge, to members of the sober community through the Phoenix organization. Please do not destroy an important WeHo business just to create a vacant, empty lot (which is what happens A LOT)
